During the month of June SuperLeigh held 2 events raising funds for Leigh Centurions.
On 10th June we launched the 2017 Balloon Race that we had, with the help of friends and local pubs sold tickets for during a 5 week period. The winning balloon belonging to Michael Shaw travelled a distance of 54.26 miles to Harrogate where it was found by Kelly Barnes. Michael wins the first season ticket of 2018 and Kelly recieves a cheque for £50.00. We raised a total of £485.50 from this event!! A massive thanks to sponsors Ask Platt Office Supplies and CDA Business Services. Also a special mention to Ashley Cartwright from As Sweet As Honey for her precious time once again.
The following day the banqueting suite at Leigh Sports Village was the venue for the innaugrial Fashion Show where a sold out audience saw the latest designs from various high street retailers. They were treated to a sumptuous afternoon tea with a glass of prosseco followed by a catwalk show organised by The Fashion Style House featuring local models including Katie Higham, Sarah Paterson, Jane Smith and Shannon McLaughlin. They were then treated to a set from fantastic local guitarist/vocalist Jay B. We raised a total of £773.00 from this event!! A massive thanks to sponsors Taylor Drilling Services and McLaughlins Kitchens,also to all the People/businesses that took out a programme advertisement and to Pete Taylor from The Britannia Pub and Ashley Cartwright from As Sweet As Honey their kind donations. Last but by no means least a huge thanks once again to Leigh Sports Village, Jonathan Hough and all his team for their fantastic hospitality.
Lottery Manager Christine Brown said ‘ We have raised a combined total of £1258.50 through these events for Leigh Centurions. Whilst the club is lucky to have a benevolent owner in the form of Derek Beaumont it is important that we do all we can to help in anyway possible to raise extra money wether as individuals or part of an organisation and we would like to thank everyone who has supported both these events.’
